*Hey, I’m Samuel Makar, the founder of Obelisk Global Trade. I started this small company in January 2024 because I wanted to share the incredible stone of my home country, Egypt, with the world. Let me tell you how it all came together.
A Personal Connection
I’m Egyptian-American, born and raised in Egypt, where stone is everywhere—from ancient statues that have stood for thousands of years to modern buildings with granite and marble. A few years back, I worked in stone sales there, which sparked my love for this material. But most of my career—over 25 years—has been in sales, including a role as a Commercial Account Manager at a Fortune 500 company here in the USA. And in 2024, I went to the Atlanta Covering Show. I was shocked to see almost no Egyptian stone on display, even though it’s durable, affordable, and beautiful. That’s when I knew I had to do something about it.
Starting Small, Dreaming Big.
I founded Obelisk Stones Trade in Georgia, USA, to bring Egyptian granite, marble, and limestone to the global market. Our small, dedicated team—with expertise in quarries, logistics, architecture, and finance—has navigated the local Egyptian market since early 2024.
